LITTLE GREEN MAN SERIES
Round 4, Larkhall, Scotland
24th July 2016
Saturday practice saw Joseph get to grips with the Larkhall circuit putting in consistently fast laps in preparation for Sunday’s races, which started wet and continued to be so throughout the whole day, producing very slippery, challenging conditions in round 4 of the Little Green Man Championship.
A Heat 1 start from P14 produced a 4th place finish, albeit with some complaints about the “lack of power” (racing drivers, eh! always moaning) which led to some setup changes for the next heat.
Happy with the setup now, a P23 start brought a 7th place finish this time, with a Heat 3 pole bringing a 2nd.
The accumulation of results from the heats meant a P4 start in the Final, which was 15 minutes plus a lap, quite a long race for Cadets on what is a short circuit.
With non stop rain all day, the tyre choice was pre-determined and the Cadet Final saw the lead initially changing constantly between Harry Thompson, Bray Kenneally and Taylor Barnard, with Max Dodds and Tom Edgar waiting in the wings.
With impeccable timing, Joseph picked his moment, got past Thompson for the lead, then withstood a concerted effort to overtake him again, surviving a desperate lunge from Thompson, who then spun out, leaving the finishing order Taylor/Kenneally/Dodds.
A good haul of points meant a move up the table and a growing confidence after the first win of the season.
