Third place for Taylor in Little Green Man round 8

Round 8, Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire

18th September 2016

Round 8 practice on Saturday showed Joseph getting on the pace almost immediately, albeit it had been some months since he was last there, putting  him in a good position going into Sunday’s races.

Heat 1,  which was Joseph’s best starting position, started badly, being loaded heavily into the first corner and dropping back to 23rd.

However, a massive effort saw him push his way through to finish 3rd, followed by some very hard racing in heats 2 and 3 which brought 11th and 6th place finishes.

Round 8 Final

Starting on P5 was a decent position to be in for the 15 minute final, with  Joseph looking strong, although having to battle hard  to get to the front, before leading for 4 laps then dropping back to third.

Patiently creeping back and closing the gap to the second place man, with less than 3 minutes remaining the “Battenburg flag” (black & yellow quarters) was shown which quickly turned to a red flag, thus finishing the race early.

Joseph had set the fastest lap which gained him extra points, helping to keep his hopes of a championship win going until the last round.

A third place finish was still a decent result, but disappointing that the intervention of the red flag curtailed a possible win.
