LITTLE GREEN MAN SERIES
Round 9, PF International, Grantham
2nd October 2016
Saturday brought a torrential downpour for the first heat at 5.00 pm at PFI after rain all day – producing a second place finish for Joseph, after a 5th place starting position (sporting a new race number, 2, as a result of securing 2nd place in the 2016 Super One championship), setting things up nicely for heats 2 & 3 on Sunday.
Heat 2 and a 22nd place start on a drying track produced a typical Taylor barnstorming effort, going rapidly to 15th on lap 1, then charging through to 2nd place on lap 7, holding it for lap 8 then just ceding a place on the last lap to finish 3rd.
Heat 3 didn’t exactly go according to plan, proving very difficult to make much progress through a tightly packed field, but moving up 6 places from 25 to 19 was enough to produce a grid position of 4 for the final, with six of the first eight starters being from the Fusion team!
Round 9 LGM Final
A good start got Joseph up to 2nd place by lap 2, then the in-fighting began with a vengeance, with 2nd place turning into 5th, then 4th, then into the lead for lap 11 & 12, back down to 2 on the next lap, then onto the front again for lap 14, then – disaster – bumped out of the lead on the last lap, right down to 9th, where the race ended.
It had been a thrilling episode, a fitting climax to a hard-fought 2016 Little Green Man series, but all was not lost as that 9th place finish garnered enough points to see Joseph secure 2nd place, improving on last year’s 4th place finish, with the added bonus of fastest lap and a new event record.

With the two major UK competitions decided, all attention will now be focused on building and testing a new kart for the impending Mini X30 formula, a step up for Joseph onto a bigger chassis with a significantly more powerful engine – something of a step into the unknown.
Next big date is the SKUSA event in Las Vegas from 16th – 20th November, where Joseph will be competing again this year (finished 7th in 2015 out of a huge international field) with the Fusion team in collaboration with the Benik USA outfit.
