LGM Round 1 at PF International
31st Mar – 1st April 2018
This weekend was the opening round of the Little Green Man Championship. Joseph has been vice champion in both Cadet and Mini X30 in this series and returns, keen to take the top spot. Following a successful Winter of racing things were looking very good for #TeamTaylor. Backed by a plethora of loyal sponsors, everyone was keen to see how Joseph would perform in his new X30 Junior Class.
Joseph looked strong in Saturday’s qualifying finishing 6th, just 0.62 seconds off the top spot.
Joseph went showed strong pace in the heats. In the first heat Joseph was able to make up 3 places from the start to finish 3rd. It was obvious the competition was fierce, both getting to the front, and staying there was going to be a challenge. In the second heat Joseph jostled for position and finished in 5th.
The heat results gave Jospeh a starting position of 4th, second row on the grid would allow him to compete for the win. The lights went green but it was not the start Joseph had hoped for, he dropped down into 5th. Undeterred, he fought back and by the end of lap 2 he was in 3rd. The next lap saw Joseph move up into 2nd, hot on the heels of the leader. Joseph stayed within 0.2 seconds of the leader for the next 5 laps. It looked as though Joseph was biding his time to make his move, and take the win. Unfortunately, the pack behind had caught the battling pair and in the penultimate lap Joseph was edged out to 3rd, unable to take his position back.
Not the podium spot Joseph had hoped for in the opening round but a podium none-the-less. Joseph now sits 3rd in the championship following a hard fought race.
